- George D. Jungwirth, age 78, of Greenville, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at Appleton Health Care Center. George was born on July 25, 1932, in Appleton, son of the late John and Olga (Hoffman) Jungwirth. On September 22, 1974, he was united in marriage to Karen Schiefelbein in Greenville. George loved hunting, fishing, and baseball. He formerly owned and operated Greenville's first gas and mini mart, Jungwirth's Brothers Gas. He retired from Badger Highway in 1997. George also did snowplowing in the Greenville Community. He served his country in the US Army.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; daughters, Jenny Catlin, significant other, Gary Vanevenhoven, Greenville and Kari (Todd) Dombrowski, Freedom; sons, Steve Simon, Appleton and Don (Angie) Jungwirth, Hortonville. Four brothers: John (Helen) Jungwirth, Appleton; Bill (Yvonne) Jungwirth, Menasha; Larry (Sandy) Jungwirth, Medina and Ed (Bonnie) Jungwirth, Appleton. Grandchildren: Matt (Tricia) Catlin; Ryan (Nicole) Catlin; Nick Babino; Kalie Catlin; Hunter, Brooke and Miranda Dombrowski; Nathan, Chelsea and Chloe Jungwirth; one great-grandchild, Carleigh Catlin. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
His parents and an infant brother Robert preceded him in death.
Funeral services for George will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Greenville with Rev. Nathan Reichle officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 22, 2011, from 4-8 p.m. at the Borchardt & Moder Funeral Home, Hortonville. Visitation will also be held at the church Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
The family would like to thank the Greenville First Responders, Appleton Medical Center and Appleton Health Care Center for all their care and concern of George.
