- Geneve O. DeBraal, Black Creek, age 86, passed away on June 26, 2011. She was born on February 12, 1925, the only child of the late Milton and Evelyn (Boelter) Hetzel. Geneve grew up in Appleton, graduating from Appleton High School in 1942. Following high school, she worked at Aid Association for Lutherans (now Thrivent.) Geneve was an accomplished accordion player and organist, playing organ for several Lutheran churches in Appleton. On October 6, 1951, she married the love of her life, Daniel DeBraal, Jr. They made their home in Appleton for 35 years, raising 5 children before moving to Black Creek in 1986. Geneve enjoyed knitting and crocheting countless items for her family, spending time at the cabin up north playing cards, and bird watching, especially the cardinals and yellow finches at her bird feeder. Geneve was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Hortonville.
She is survived by her 5 children: Michael (Kay) DeBraal, Sr., Hortonville; David (Mary) DeBraal, Appleton; Scott DeBraal, Black Creek; Paul (Sue) DeBraal, Appleton; Christine (Brian) Reader, Hortonville; 14 grandchildren; Michael (Jayme) DeBraal Jr., Nicole (Mike) Schultz, Jordan DeBraal, Ryan (Mellisa) DeBraal, and Laura DeBraal; Kimberly and Trevor DeBraal; Dan DeBraal, Andrew (Rachel) Reader, Benjamin and Christopher Reader, Kevin and Michael Cornell, Melissa (Dan) Heiting, 11 great-grandchildren, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
He husband, Daniel, preceded her in death on December 11, 2003.
Funeral services for Geneve will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Hortonville on Thursday, June 30, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ralph Rosenberg officiating. Burial will be in the Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
