- Suzanne M. Sokel , (nee: Jape) "Sue", of Menasha, age 74, passed away at Sunday, September 18, 2005, at Theda Clark, while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Menasha on June 1, 1931, the daughter of the late Arthur and Lucille (Ponkratz) Jape. On May 20, 1950, she was united in marriage at St. Mary?s Catholic Church to Robert Sokel. They shared 52 wonderful years together until his death on May 9, 2003. They have now reunited in death, and she is dancing with her one and only in heaven to "Could I Have This Dance."
Sue enjoyed sewing, crocheting and spending time with all of her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She will be sadly missed by four children: Robert (Debra) Sokel, Town of Menasha; Deborah (Terry) Honick-Korth, Appleton; Gary (Debra) Sokel, Menasha; and Mary (Tim) Korth, Menasha; son-in-law, Arthur Hahnen, Appleton; 13 grandchildren: Sheila, Dennis, Heather, Bill "BJ", Bill, Jason, Kristy, Sara, Michelle, Justin, Amanda,Tyler, and Chad; eight great grandchildren: Emma, Paige, Alyssa, Madeline, Chance, Makielyn, Kimbreyan, Julianna, and one due any day now; two sisters: Lucille (Jim) Smolinski, Menasha and Mary Gyrion, Menasha.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; daughter, Cynthia; son-in-law, Bill Honick; granddaughter, Jennifer Honick; and great-grandson, Andrew Novy.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2005, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 Second Street, Menasha, with Father Paul Radetski officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and support staff at Theda Clark for the care given to Sue over the past five weeks. A special thanks to Sue's sister Mary for the loving support shown to not only Sue, but her entire family through these difficult times.
