- Lucile "Clee" Stoegbauer, age 96, of the Town of Menasha, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Oakridge Gardens. Clee was born in Deerbrook, WI on September 25, 1915 to the late William and Anna (Kegler) Cleland. She spent her childhood in the Antigo area and moved to Oshkosh at age 15. She was a graduate of Oshkosh High School and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing (Class of 1936). A Registered Nurse, Clee worked at Mercy Hospital and in the office of Dr. James Kronzer.
On November 23, 1940, Clee was united in marriage to Harold "Ecker" Stoegbauer. They resided in Oshkosh until 1959 when Ecker became the steward of the Appleton Yacht Club (1959-1975). Clee ran the kitchen preparing and serving her famous Yacht Club Friday Night Fish Frys. The couple enjoyed 35 years together until Ecker's death in January of 1975.
In the 1980's, Clee worked part time as an RN at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Home. She enjoyed all of the needle arts, crossword puzzles, Scrabble, card games, a good cup of coffee, and the occasional trip to the casino.
She is survived by her four children: Richard (Laurie) Stoegbauer, Eagle River, William Stoegbauer, Appleton, Peggy (David) Weber, Kimberly, and Karen (Timothy) Heinritz, Appleton; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Knauer, Appleton and Tillie Luft, Oshkosh. She is further survived by nieces and nephews. Clee was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers: William and Ernst Cleland, and daughter in law, Patty Stoegbauer.
Clee's last "shindig", a casual memorial gathering, will be held on Tuesday, April 17 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall at Christ The King Church, 601 S. Washington St., Combined Locks. Inurnment will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Oshkosh. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
The family thanks all the staff members in the east wing at Oakridge Gardens for their outstanding care and compassion.
