- Marion R. Zielinski, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at Harbor Haven Nursing Home in Fond du Lac. She was born on February 22, 1921 in Oshkosh, the daughter of the late Wenzel and Anna (Tomasko) Esslinger. She went to high school in Oshkosh and furthered her education at Mercy School of nursing where she graduated in 1942. Marion served our country as an Army nurse on the Army Hospital Ship Thistle from November 1943 until September 1945. She later worked as an office nurse for Dr. Arthur C. Taylor, in Central Supply at Theda Clark Hospital, and as a surgical nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital, retiring in 1979.
Marion is survived by her two daughters, Joanna (Dennis) Haltinner and Jenny (Glenn) McVickar, five grandchildren, Kristin, David, and Douglas Haltinner, Amy and Ryan McVickar, one great-grandson, Braxton
Haltinner, and one sister-in-law, Gladys Merks. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edwin Urban, and her second husband, Arthur Zielinski, one brother, Carl Esslinger, and one sister, Bernice Esslinger.
Private family services have taken place with interment at Calvary Cemetery in Oshkosh, WI.
