  Frank Mettlach, 88, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Kate Fritsch at Milwaukee. He has suffered a severe stroke. Frank was a Civil War veteran and pioneer settler of Dale, living there since about 1850 until he moved to Milwaukee to live with his daughter. Funeral services were at the Catholic church in Hortonville with Rev. Theodore Kolbe in charge. Survivors were one daughter, Mrs. Fritsch of Milwaukee, and one son, John, of Joplin, MO. Published in the Appleton Post Crescent, Appleton, WI, Saturday, May 28, 1927
