- Richard Jerome Larson of Neenah, age 90, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 5, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born July 27, 1917, in Kenosha, son of the late Louis and Ila Jean (Richards) Larson. Richard attended the University of Minnesota, and then served in the U.S. Army during WWII where he was stationed in the Philippines. He married Wilma Mossberg; she preceded him in death in 1979. He then married Lorraine Anderson on May 12, 1990, and moved to Neenah at that time. Richard retired as treasurer of Wisconsin Wholesalers in 1981. He enjoyed woodworking, reading, music, and traveling. Richard and Lorraine loved to dance and followed their favorite bands. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Neenah/Menasha Elks Club where he served as chaplain. He was Vice President of Retired Mens Club, a member of Neenah American Legion Post #33, the Appleton VFW, and the Equitable Reserve Association Assembly #1.
Survivors include his wife Lorraine, two children: Gale Shryock, Green Bay; Laurel Chapman, Lac du Flambeau; five grandchildren: Michael (Connie) Bellin, Appleton; Missy (Matthew) Van Dyke, Shiocton; David (Melissa) Larson, Green Bay; 1st Lt. Jared (Bonnie) Shryock, Arizona; Tyler Chapman, Lac du Flambeau; seven great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Elizabeth, Brady, Riley, Lexi, Isaac, and Liam; a son-in-law, Ernie (Sherry) Bellin, Oshkosh; a stepson: David (Dione) Anderson, Milwaukee; two special boys; Eric (Jane) Radtke and their children Caitlin and Erica, Cleveland, and Mark (Roxane) Radtke, Madison.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lucile "Beth" Bellin, an infant son, Rolf Larson, and a son-in-law, Jay Shryock.
Funeral services for Richard will be held Saturday, September 8, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Neenah, with the Rev. Paul Holte officiating. Family and friends may call at Westgor Funeral Home, Neenah, on Friday, September 7, from 5 to 8:00 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Elks Prayer Service, and again on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will be in Good Shepherd Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in his name.
