- Harold R. "Spitz" Neumeier, 87, Gresham, died Friday, March 28, 2008, in Green Bay. Born on Feb. 21, 1921, in Gresham, he was the son of the late George and Lena (Hoffman) Neumeier. On Feb. 18, 1943, he was united in marriage to Beatrice Cerveny in Leopolis. She preceded him in death on June 20, 2000. Harold had worked at Wright Broilers before going to work at the Gresham Paper Plant. After working there for a number of years, he went to work at F.W.D. in Clintonville and at the Shawano Equity before going to work at the Shawano Paper Mill. He was a member of the St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Gresham. He enjoyed playing cards, watching wrestling, and was an avid Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan.
Harold was the loving father of: Karen Gasser, Appleton; Sandy (Lester) Hess, Gresham; John (special friend, Diane) Neumeier, Shawano; Rick (Bev) Neumeier, Gresham; Pat (Kate) Neumeier, Neenah; Jeff Neumeier, Appleton; and Joe (Joanne) Neumeier, Shawano. Harold is further survived by: ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Rankin, Appleton, Anna (Jim) Redmond, Gresham; and two sisters-in-laws, Angeline Neumeier and Phyllis Ashenbrenner, Gresham.
Harold was preceded in death by: his wife, Beatrice; his parents; four brothers; and four sisters.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at the St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church, Gresham, with the Rev. David Barrett officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Swedberg Funeral Home, Gresham Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday after 10 a.m. until the time of the service. A Parish Wake service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Vincent Hospital and the staff at the Northwoods DaVita Dialysis Center for the wonderful care given to Harold.
