- Robert S. Sanders, Sr., Appleton, age 81, passed away on Wednesday morning, August 2, 2006, at Parkside Care Center in Little Chute. He was born on December 24, 1924, in Little Chute to the late Stephen and Anne (Koehne) Sanders. Bob served his country with the United States Army during WWII. He was united in marriage to Marianne Mosher of Wausau, she preceded him in death. Robert was later united in marriage to Bonnie Clark, she survives. Bob spent his entire working life as a Switchman for the Chicago North Western Railroad. He was a member of the VFW Electric City Post 3319 in Kaukauna, where he served as commander during the 1960s. He was a founder of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, St. Aloysius Chapter, and was a member of St. Aloysius and St. Mary's Catholic Churches in Kaukauna for many years. Bob enjoyed golfing, bowling, woodworking, and loved cooking for his family.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Bonnie; his children: Terrence (Christine) Sanders, Manistique, MI; Robert Jr. (Laurie) Sanders, Appleton; Laura (Gregory) Griffin, Cedar Rapids, IA; step-children: Pamela (Marty) Daly, Texas; Jeffrey (Martha) Polman, Georgia; Lili (Bob) Hahn, Combined Locks; Jackie Rogers, Stevens Point; Jill (John) Graffeo, Ohio; Holly (Brad) Sims, North Carolina; Matthew (Kirsten) Polman, Madison; grandchildren: Eileen Spoo, Phylea (Dale) Goehring, Kandace Sanders, Benjamin Sanders, Lucian Sanders, Marianne Griffin, Kyllian Griffin; 18 step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren: Lawrence Spoo, Nicholas and Brooke Goehring. He is further survived by his sister, Regina De Coster, Little Chute; brother-in-law, Leo Hett, Menasha; sister-in-law, Joyce Sanders, Menasha.
In addition to his parents, and his first wife, Marianne, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Viola, Earl, Dorothy, Ralph, Marie, James, Frank, Alvin, Rita, and Helen.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2006, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church (119 W. 7th Street, Kaukauna) with Father Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the mass. Military Honors will be performed at the church directly after mass. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Kaukauna.
