- See Image Died At her home on East-A Street on Sunday evening, January 8th, aged 39 years, 4 months and 5 days. Mrs. Theresa Penning, wife or John Penning. After a lingering illness which lasted many long weary months, a loving wife and kind mother passed to the great beyond, leaving behind her a heart broken husband and a host of sorrowing friends. Deceased was born Sept. 3rd 1857 in the town of Lawrence. Brown county, where she was married to Mr. Penning. For several years they have made Marshfield their home. Good health was never enjoyed by Mrs. Penning and year by year she has steadily grown worse until finally about six months ago she was taken to her bed from which she never rallied. She has been a patient sufferer and death came as a relief. On Saturday Dr. Lathrop and Hayward held a post mortem examination on the remains to discover if possible the cause of her trouble, and pronounced it interstitial inflammation of the liver. The funeral was held on Monday from St. John's Catholic Church, Rev. Eisen officiating.
