- Alice Cornelius, 97, Oneida, went peacefully to her heavenly home Tuesday morning, Oct. 5, 2004. She was born Aug. 13, 1907, in Oneida, to Electa King. On May 7, 1931, she married Julius Joe Cornelius.
Alice was a lifelong member of Holy Apostles Episcopal Church and a member of the Junior Guild at the church. She was known for her artistic ability in making corn husk dolls and quilts. Alice was also known for making her Kanastohal.
Alice was an excellent homemaker and gardener, but above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Mrs. Alice Denny, Mrs. Thelma (Wendell) McLester, Isaac (Deceased) June Cornelius, Merlin (Pat) Cornelius, Mrs. Rose (Fred) Laitinen, Mrs. Shirley LaFleur, Paul Cornelius, Eugene (Barb) Cornelius, Mrs. Emily (Steve) Johnson, and Mrs. Edna (Scott) Grosskopf. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren further survive Alice. Alice's nieces, nephews, and sister-in-law, Mildred Baird, further survive her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Joe, in 1961; 3 children, twin daughters and her eldest son, Isaac. Alice's siblings further preceded her in death, Jane, Lucille, Melinda, Jesse, Nathan and Matilda.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME, De Pere, with parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home until the cortege leaves for church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Apostles Episcopal Church with Fr. Dewey Silas and Deacon Edmund Powless officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery
