- Robert W. (Bob) Deering, 88, Green Bay, passed away, Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at a local hospital.
Born in the township of Osborn, on July 12, 1921, he is the son of the late William and Anna (Kropp) Deering. Bob served in the Army Air Force CBI during World War II from 1942-1946.
Before entering the service, he was in his family's cheese business. After his return from service, he joined the Green Bay Metropolitan Sewage District, serving as the Laboratory Director.
He retired in 1986 after a long distinguished career.
Bob was a member of the VFW. He was a kind, generous and loving man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Lois, Green Bay; two children, Scot and Sue Deering, De Pere; and Nancy and Dr. Paul Vander Kelen, Green Bay; their mother, Shirley Deering, Green Bay; two stepdaughters, Amy and Adam Heiser and Andrea Sell (friend and caregiver, "Crash"); one sister, Ferne Gutheridge, Green Bay; three grandchildren, Tricia and Larry Garrison, Scottie, and Christopher Deering; great-grandchild, Cassandra Garrison; three step-grandchildren, Ashley, Trevar and Alexus; canine companions, Lucy, Benz, Lady and Nibbles; other relatives and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Beatrice and Ralph Cairns; brother-in-law, Del Gutheridge.
Visitation at First United Methodist Church, 501 Howe Street, Tuesday from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral at 4 p.m. with Pastor Paul Johnsen officiating. Entombment at Shrine of the Good Shepherd. Full Military Honors to follow.
