- Gloria J. Schubring Pharr, Texas Age 78, formerly of Appleton, died peacefully June 7, 2000, in Pharr, Texas, where she resided for the past 20 years. Gloria was preceded in death by her loving husband, George, who passed away June 25, 1999. Gloria was born in Kaukauna on June 24, 1921, the daughter of Edward and Etta (McDermid) Geske. She married George on June 29, 1943, in New Jersey. George and Gloria celebrated almost 56 years of loving marriage. Gloria was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, McAllen, Texas. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed the Elks Club with George. She was an avid card player and also loved to travel. Gloria served 22 of her years as a teacher at St. Mary's School in Appleton (Catholic Central), where she touched many children's lives. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis G. (Jenny), Dan E. (Sharon), both of Appleton; four grandchildren, Shelley (Kevin) Raddatz, Shawn (Matt) Huhn, Danielle (Jamie) Glisczinski, and Cory Schubring; three great-grandchildren: Elizabeth and Peyton Raddatz, and Ian Huhn; a brother, Dan (Maryann) Geske; and a brother-in-law, Ralph (Marge) Schubring. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Gloria's wishes were that a private memorial service be held for the immediate family only.
Memorials received by the family will be presented to Grace Lutheran School, and St. Joseph/St.
