  Joe was the son of the late Joseph and Blanche Perion Scherer. He was a graduate of the 1940 class of Kaukauna High School in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, and enlisted in the Navy during World War II. Joe was a retired Navy warrant officer. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maureen; and his brother, Leland "Gerry" Scherer. Survivors: Daughter, Robin Lynn Scherer Rigg; and niece, Mary Friedli and her husband, John, of Thiensville, Wis. Fort Worth Star-Telegram (TX) - Wednesday, April 28, 2010
