Dear Mr. Wilpolt, I am the husband of Margit Steinbach-Gonder and I have t he order from my wife to tell you the following:
First, it was a big surprise, to get post from the states; because we dont have any relations in Amerika.I, Paul Gonder, am born in Thomm in 1955. After our marriage in 1999 our r esidence is Thomm. My wife comes from the little nice vine-village at t he Mosel with the name Nittel, it is about 30 km from Trier, direction wes t. Her father and her grandfather come also from Nittel. If you are intere ssted on further informations in this cause, so tell it to us.

The half-sister of my brothers wife was Elfriede Steinbach. She marri ed a man with name Erwin Klassen. They have two children which live in Tho mm. Elfriede is died ten years ago.The father of Elfriede, Edmund Steinbach, comes from Osburg. He was burn b etween 1905 - 1910. Edmund Steinbach was died in the 2. World war. He h ad two brothers, Robert and Richard, and one sister, Maria. From the broth ers we dont know nothing. But yesterday evening my mother told me, that M aria is like she about 76 years old. She (my mother) believes, that Mar ia lives in Trier. Here name, we dont know. My mother can remember to o ne of the sentence of Elfriede

You have asked me wheater it is possible that my wife Margit Steinbach has the same roots as you - you understand? Than I told you, that Margit comes from a little vill age at the river Mosel, with name Nittel. You find Nittel at the bord er of Luxembourg direct. The distance to the border of France is 30 km. S he has other roods as you. I had write you, that I asked my mother, s he is 78 years old, what she now about the name Steinbach in Thomm. She to ld me, that the mother of my brothers wife - she is dead - had marri ed a man with name Steinbach; that was her first marriage. The name of t he wife was Barbara Steinbach, girl-name Keiser. From this marriage was bo rn a girl with name Elfriede. Elfriede married Erwin Klassen. Elfriede a nd Erwin have two children; Helmut and Erna. The father and the children l ife in Thomm - her mother Elfriede ist dead. My mother has told me that lo ng, long time ago Barbara told here proud "people of our family (I dont n ow the right word) lifes in America. An now I must start with my work.
