- Francis A. "Frank, Gampie" Bednarek, 76, Green Bay resident, died Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at a local hospital.
He was born June 4, 1937, in Berlin, WI, to the late Isadore and Bridget (Drover) Bednarek. Francis graduated from Berlin High School in 1955 and continued his education at Marquette University.
He married the former Joan Rossmeissl on September 2, 1957 in Milwaukee. She preceded him in death on December 27, 2006. Francis was employed in the retail business for his entire life retiring from H.C. Prange Co. He was very proud of his polish heritage and was an avid Brewers and Packers fan. Francis was very proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them. He was a longtime member of St. Philip the Apostle parish and a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous.
He is survived by his children: Kathy (Chris) Lankey, De Forest, WI; John (Allison) Bednarek, Alexandria, VA; Michael (Linda) Bednarek, Bethesda, MD and Thomas (Jane) Bednarek, Cary, NC; 11 grandchildren: Matt and Scott Lankey; Katie, Carolyn, Jack, Sean, Ian and Evan Bednarek; Michael Jr. and Kristin Bednarek; Erin Bednarek; one brother, David (Jane) Bednarek, Wauwatosa; four sisters: Barbara Kurczek, Berlin; June Werner, Milwaukee; Doris Howman, Middleton and Julie (Richard) Sobralski, Berlin; one brother-in-law and four sisters-in-law: Georgia Bednarek, Denver, CO; Frances Bednarek, Berlin; John (Barbara) Rossmeissl, Virginia Beach, VA and Hedy Rossmeissl, Herndon, VA; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Thomas Bednarek; four brothers-in-law: Frank Kurczek; Merlin Werner: James Howman and Paul Rossmeissl; special nephew, Frank Kurczek, Jr.; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Joanne Rossmeissl.
Inurnment at the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
