  Mrs. Gotlob Schuler, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Baldwin Schubarth at Milwaukee last Tuesday after ailing for some time. The decedent usually spent the winter at Milwaukee, but was already looking forward to returning to the old homestead when death, due to the infirmities of old age, intervened. Mrs. Schuler, nee Emilie Plank, was born in Germany in 1852 and came to America with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Plank in 1868, across the broad Atlantic after a scary eight week voyage on a sailing vessel. The family landed at Quebec, Canada and then proceeded to Kiel, Manitowoc County, but soon after moved to Brillion. In 1878 she was united in marriage to Gottlob Schuler, who preceded her in death, passing in 1931. They made their home on what is now the Max Schuler farm but Mr. Schuler was also a carpenter in great demand during those early years of our young settlement. Surviving her are five sons and three daughters. The sons are Emil and Arthur of Milwaukee, William of Shawano and Albert and Max of Brillion. The daughters are Mrs. Jeanette Juno, Mrs. Erla Schubarth and Mrs. Olga Schubarth all of Milwaukee. There are fourteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also two brothers, Henry Plank of Brillion and Ferdinand Plank of Appleton, and one sister, Mrs. John Schuler of Appleton. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran congregation here and of the Lutheran Ladies Aid. The funeral was held today, services being conducted at the church, Rev. M. Sauer officiating. Interment was in the town cemetery. Pallbearers were: Hans Hanert, Emil Reinhardt, Louis Mumm, A. C. Schroeder, Charles Stelnbach and William Abel. Brillion News – March 3, 1932
