Catherine T. Schad, 86, died Thursday, January 10, 2008, at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home where she had been a resident since 2003. Catherine was born December 10, 1921 in Kimberly. WI, the daughter of the late Anna and William Tremel. On May 21, 1949, she was united in marriage to Maximilian Schad at Holy Name Catholic Church. Together they had five children. Catherine was a graduate of Sheboygan Central High. She worked at Art Imig Dry-Cleaning Service before her marriage. While raising their five children, she was active in St. Dominic's Christian Mother's Society, PTA and was a school library volunteer. She was also an integral part of the N. 23rd St. Neighborhood". When her children were older she was employed as the school secretary for St. Dominic's School until her retirement in 1980. Catherine was a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church for over 50 years. Before her back problems and Parkinson's Disease, she enjoyed bowling, dancing and traveling. She and Max had several years to travel after retirement. In her later years, she got enjoyment from the simple things like baking, crossword puzzles, reading, game shows, playing board games and watching her children and grandchildren grow. She was a member of the 'Red Hat Ladies" at Sunny Ridge. She is survived by her husband Max; five children, David (Linda) Schad, Seattle, WA, Peter (Sherrie) Schad, Madison, WI, Martha (James) Steiner, St. Paul, MN, Linda (Michael) Carr, Madison, WI, Steven Schad, Black Earth, WI; five grandchildren, Andrew, Eric, Hailey, Audrey and Alex; brother-in-law, Clarence Schad, St. Nazianz; sister-in-law Theresa Escher of Texas; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Rose Kaiser and numerous in-laws. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 14. 2008. at St. Dominic Catholic Church, N. 21st and Geele Ave. with the Rev. John Radetski, pastor, as celebrant. Relatives and friends are welcome at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Sunny Ridge for their wonderful care and to St. Nicholas Home Health and Hospice for maintaining her comfort in the end. A memorial fund has been established in her name for St. Dominic's Grade School.
