  Mrs. Josephine Buhl, a native of the town of Charlestown, Calumet County, and a resident of Chilton for the past four years, passed away at the home of her daughter Ms. Gottfried Mayer, St. Nazianz. Born March 13, 1869, she was the daughter of George and Rosanna Applebaker, both of whom died when she was two years of age. Her foster parents were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Koehler. Mrs. Buhl was married to John Buhl in July 1887. He passed away 17 years ago. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chilton and of St. Martin's church at Charlestown. She leaves 14 children, 25 grandchildren , five great grandchildren, and three sisters. One son, a veteran of World War I preceded her in death. The surviving children are William of Milwaukee; John and Anton of Chilton; Frank of New Holstein, Martin and Hubert of Visalia, Calif.; Mrs. Clarence (Helen) Kleist of Milwaukee; Mrs. Gottfried (Clara) Mayer of St. Nazianz; Mrs. Francis (Bertha) Martin of Berkeley, Calif.; Mrs. Oscar Herzog of St. Anna, and four daughters who became nuns; Sister Marina (Rose) of St. Helena, Neb.; Sister Balthasar (Elizabeth) Sacred Heart, Milwaukee; Sister Geraldine (Otilia) of St. Nazianz and Sister Cyprian (Hildegarde) of Milwaukee. The three sisters are Mrs. Elizabeth Liefenfelder of Milwaukee; Mrs. Lena Rienther of Milwaukee and Mrs. Rose Herzog of Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at St. Mary's church with burial in St. Martin's cemetery.
