- See Image Francis J. Hart - Phone ExecutiveServices for Francis J. Hart, a retired vice president and general couns el for the Wisconsin Telephone Co. will be tonight. Hart, who lived in Sho rewood, died Tuesday at St. Mary's Nursing Home. He was 91. Born in Glidde n, Hart began working in the logging camps around Hayward at age 14. He w as head bookkeeper for the lumber co, and was a veteran of World War I. " He was a very dynamic and special man who was a great storyteller" sa id a daughter, Ellen Topp of Shorewood. Topp said her father liked to te ll stories about his childhood. When he was 70, she said, he began to cult ivate an interest in oral history. He recorded more than 70 tapes of fami ly history, with social commentary, spanning a century. Hart graduated fr om Marquette University with a degree in business administration in 192 5. He earned a law degree from Marquette in 1927. Shortly after graduatio n, he became the founder and partner of the Wolfe and Hart law firm. He be came general counsel for the Wisconsin Telephone Co. in 1941, and was appo inted vice president in 1947. He retired from the Telephone Co after 22 ye ars. He later became executive manager of the Milwaukee Bar Association, r etiring from that position in 1975. Hart was a member of the St. Vince nt de Paul Society, Knights of Columbus, St. Robert Parish, the Milwauk ee Athletic Club and the Ozaukee Country Club. He served on the board of S t. Rose Ophanage, St. Mary's Hospital and Rosary College in River Fores t, Ill.He also is survived by a son, Michael T. Hart of Glendale; two other daugh ters, Bridgid Mary Hart of Denver, Colorado, and Susan Hart of Libertyvill e, Il.; and two sisters, Agnes Hart of Whitefish Bay, and Margaret Konop ka of Milwaukee. Visitation is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at St. R obert Catholic Church, 224 E. Capital Dr. Shorewood. A funeral Mass will f ollow at the church. The family suggests contributions to the Dominican Si sters, Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary or St. Robert Scho ol Society.
