  Wounds Fatal to Appleton Soldier Private Arvin J Ristow died Nov. 22 of wounds received in action on Nov. 20 in France, the war department has informed his wife, the former Ruth Grootemont, who lives at 510 W. College avenue. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Gust Ristow, 802 W. Harris street. Born Dec. 16, 1923, in Appleton, Ristow attended Appleton High school and was employed by the Gilbert Paper company, Menasha, before entering the service March 3, 1943. He was a member of St. Mary church, the Holy Name society and the Catholic War Veterans. Entering the army, he trained at Fort Lewis, Wash., took part in the Louisiana maneuvers and then was stationed at Camp Phillips, Kans., before going overseas in September. He served with the military police of an infantry division. Survivors, besides the wife and parents, are one brother, Sergeant Gordon, Warrensburg, Mo.; and five sisters, Mrs. Leo Muraski, Appleton, and Mary Jane, Elaine, Grace and Carol, at home. A requiem high mass has been arranged for 9 o'clock Tuesday morning at St. Mary church.
