- George W. Kemp, Kaukauna, age 85, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Appleton Medical Center. He was born on May 26, 1928 in Crandon, WI, son of the late Warren and Lida (Longcor) Kemp. On August 25, 1948 he was united in marriage to June Tank at the Methodist Parsonage in Seymour and together they celebrated 65 years of marriage. George served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Air force. He was a cheesemaker for 32 years at Simon's Cheese Factory until his retirement. George enjoyed many years as a Boy Scout Leader. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, gardening and all other nature. He enjoyed doing puzzles, watching TV, and enjoyed being around family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, June; his five children: Kenneth (Judi), Beverly (Jim) Pynenberg, Glenn (Sharon), Bonita "Bonnie" (Bruce) Bowers, and Sarah (Bryon) Petrie; eleven grandchildren: Chad (Brooke) Kemp, Jill (Greg) Unser, Neal (Laura) Pynenberg, Patrick (Belinda) Pynenberg, Dale (Stephanie) Pynenberg, Jason (R.J.) Kemp-Stevens, Heidi (Nels) VanDynHoven, Becky (Adam) Spoehr, Britainney Petrie, Gabrielle Petrie, and Kayleigh Petrie; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty (Ed) Retzlaff. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 21 brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services for George will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna with Rev. Lucretia Fehrmann officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. In Lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
