- Rathsack, Alvin J., 14496 Coun ty Hwy VV, Berry LakeAge 79, died on Friday, August 8, 2003. He was born on Feb. 26, 1924, in M anitowoc, the son of the late Benjamin and Anna (Watzka) Rathsack. Alvin m arried Veda Besaw on May 27, 1946 at St. Therese Catholic Church in Applet on. He was a Chief Boatswain Mate in the United States Navy for 21 year s. Alvin served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a memb er of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Appleton and St. Michael's Cathol ic Church in Keshena. Alvin was a Eucharistic Minister and was very acti ve in his church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Appleton Ame rican Legion, and the Navy Reserve. He enjoyed spending time with his gran dchildren.He is survived by: his wife, Veda; his daughter, Natasha (Wayne) Hottensti ne of Appleton; five sons, Alvin E. (Sharon) Rathsack of Hortonville, Ter ry (Robin) Rathsack of Appleton, Edward (Diane) Rathsack of Mackville, Pa ul (Robin) Rathsack of Gillett, Bernard Rathsack of Appleton; seventeen gr andchildren; three great-grandchildren; his brother, Joseph Rathsack of Ma nitowoc; two sisters, Charlotte Landt of Two Rivers, Evelyn Schneider of M anitowoc; and his extended family, Rick and Shelly Warrington of Keshena.He was preceded in death by: his parents; two sons, James and Bruce; his g randson, Terry; his sister, Marilyn; and his brother, Donald.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 11 at St. Micha el's Catholic Church, in Keshena, with the Rev. David Barrett officiatin g, with military rites to follow by the Menominee American Legion Post #49 7. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. on Sunday at Swedberg Funeral Hom e, in Shawano, and after 9 a.m. on Monday at the church until the ti me of the service. A parish wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Sund ay. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, in Appleton, at 2 p.m. on Mo nday. Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
