  HENRY MAES Henry Maes, after many years illness with tuberculosis of the throat, succumbed to the effects of that disease Monday morning, June 3, at about 6 o'clock A.M. Henry Maes was born in Kaukauna in 1866. He was the son of Peter and Johanna Maes. In 1892 at Mattoon he was united in marriage to Miss Christina Joosten, who died some four years since. No children were born to them. Henry and Arnold Maes came to Marion in 1894 and started a furniture factory, which has been prosperous since the very start under the firm name of Maes Brothers, Henry being the junior member of the firm. He was a member of the Modern Woodman society, the Knights of Columbus and the local fire department, all of which were well represented at the funeral Wednesday morning, the largest ever held from St. Mary's church. He leaves an aged mother, two brothers and one sister, Mrs. Barney Schulde of Kaukauna, to mourn a faithful son and brother. Father Bastian of Clintonville conducted the services. The floral offerings were profuse and beautiful. The interment was in the Catholic cemetery beside his wife. (6-07-07)
