- Verkuilen, William J. "Bil l" N2201 Highway 55 Kaukauna Age 61 died on Monday, March 17, 2003 at Loyola University Medical Center after a long courageous battle with liver disease. He was born on Ju ly 24, 1941 in Appleton to Peter and Mary (Wigman) Verkuilen. Bill was an area resident all of his life. Following his graduation from St. Ma ry Catholic High School he proudly served with the United States Air Force. After his discharge from service Bill worked for the United States Post al Service for over 30 years until his retirement. He loved to golf, coo k, go for walks and biking. He and Jane also loved to travel.Bill is survived by his wife, Jane (Vander Sanden) Heid Verkuilen who he m arried on July 2, 1999; 2 sons: Paul (Nora) Verkuilen, Little Chute; Ma rk (Carrie) Verkuilen, Appleton; two stepsons: Kurt (Diane) Heid, Appleto n; Keith (Paula) Heid, Sherwood; two daughters: Sandra (Steve) Kleis, Mena sha; Susan (Paul) Washington, Neenah; five stepdaughters: Kim Heid, Litt le Chute; Kelly (Bruce) Wagner, Kaukauna; Kris (Bob) Mollen, Little Chut e; Kathy (Chris) Brabant, Greendale; Katie (Kevin) Voight, Freedom; 18 gra ndchildren; two brothers: James "Red" (Nancy) Verkuilen, Pleasant Plaine s, Illinois; Jeff (Deb) Verkuilen, Appleton; a sister: Dolores (Ralph "Ski p") Stilson, Boulder, Colorado. Bill is also survived by Jane's mother, Ro sella Vander Sanden, Kaukauna; her brother, John (Arlene) Vander Sanden, K aukauna; and her sister, Darlene (Bill) Crowe, Fremont; as well as many ni eces and nephews.Bill was preceded in death by his first wife: Judith Ann (Kolasinski) Verk uilen on May 3, 1998 and a sister: Alice (John) Walsh.The funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 20 03 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna, with F r. Jack Mullarkey officiating. Friends may call at the church on Thursd ay from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers a memo rial fund has been established in Bill's name.The family would like to extend their thanks to doctors and staff at Apple ton Medical Center and Loyola University Medical Center for their wonderf ul level of care.
