  Madeline Owens, 73, Wisconsin Rapids, died Saturday at University Hospital s, Madison, of complications following heart surgery Tuesday. She was born Sept. 24, 1911, in Stevens Point, daughter of the late Dani el and Elizabeth Rice. She was married to Stuart Owens Feb. 20, 194 3, in Stevens Point. He died Nov. 5, 1966. She was a librarian for the then T.B. Scott Library, Wisconsin Rapids, fr om 1961-70. She was a social studies teacher at St. Vincent de Paul Eleme ntary School, Wisconsin Rapids, from 1970-77. Mrs. Owens was a 1934 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. S he was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapid s, and its women's club. Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Ellen Clement, Port Edwards, and Ma ry Jane Birkley, Madison; three sons, John, Englewood, Colo., James, Savo y, Ill., and Jerald, Neenah; nine grandchildren; three sisters, Evelyn Jon es and Ruth Bablitch, both of Stevens Point, and Elizabeth Gapen, Riversid e, Ill.; and one brother, Dr. Maurice Rice, Stevens Point. She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother. Services will be Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Chu rch, WIsconsin Rapids, with the Rev. Andrew Karoblis and the Rev. Carl Doc kendorff officiating. Friends may call at the Taylor Funeral Home fr om 4 to 9 p.m. today and until time of services Tuesday. A general rosa ry will be said at 8 o'clock tonight.
