  See Image Richard A. O'Connell, age 71, of 4120 Fir St. East Chicago, passed away Su nday February 18 at St. Catherine Hospital. Survivors are wife Betty; o ne son, Richard A. O'Connell, Jr. of Munster; two grandchildren, Dave of M anitowoc, Wis and James of East Chicago; one sister, Miss Margaret O'Conne ll of Appleton, Wis. Funeral services will be held Wednesday Feb 21 at 9: 30 a.m. from the MCGuan Mortuary and at 10 a.m. from St. Patrick church wi th Rev. Phillip N. Fusco officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph cemete ry Hammond. He was a retired employee of the General Transportation Compa ny and a World War I veteran, he was past commander of the American Legi on Twin City Post 266 and a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Msgr Co nnelly Council 1700.
