- William E. Blenke, Sr., 89, Kaukauna, passed away at his home on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010. Bill was born on May 24, 1920, in Chicago, Ill., to the late August C. W. and Ella Engelcke. He married Elizabeth "Betty" on Nov. 9, 1946, in Kaukauna. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II as a B-17 navigator based in England. He continued his career with the government as a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office for over 23 years, retiring in 1984. Bill was also well-known for being a television repairman.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Betty; his children, Michael (Diane) Blenke, Appleton; Patrick (Mary) Blenke, Racine, Timothy (Carol) Blenke, Town of Menasha, Margaret Blenke, of Kaukauna, Ella Blenke, of Little Chute; and William, Blenke, Jr. of Kaukauna. He is further survived by nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Elanore "Susie" (Charles) Mason; and his great-grandson, Jacob.
The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at ST. KATHERINE DREXEL-ST. MARY SITE, 119 W. Seventh Street, Kaukauna. Friends may call directly at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Kaukauna. A memorial has been established in his name to benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
