- See Image Metko, Margaret A., MattoonAge 86, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Frida y, March 22, 2002 at The Homme Home of Wittenberg. She was born Octob er 9, 1915 in Ionie, Michigan the daughter of the late Frank and Petrenel la (Verbeten) Johnson. In 1918 she moved to Appleton. On March 27, 1934 s he was united in marriage to Alfred Metko. He survives. The couple then fa rmed in the Mattoon area until the late 1980's. Margaret was a member of H oly Family Catholic Church, Mattoon and its St. Monica's Society. She enjo yed reading, singing, collecting dolls and especially spending time with h er family. In addition to her husband of nearly 68 years, Alfred, she is s urvived by 11 children: Alfred (Audrey) Metko, Appleton and children: Mari a, Joe, Gene, Vicky, Mark and Andy; Thomas (Germaine) Metko, Kimberly a nd children: Mike, Lisa, Denise and Paul; Margaret (Wally) Mueller, Scandi navia and children: Walt, Rick, Michelle, Colleen and Scott; Daniel (Lan a) Metko, Fremont and children: Troy and Ryan; Gerald Metko, Appleton; Ral ph (Pat) Metko, Appleton and children: Lorra, Nicole and Jane; Nancy (Dic k) Eibenholzl, Green Bay and children: Debbie and Kevin; Kathleen (Mike) W hite, Birnamwood and children: Melissa and Katrina; Donald (Corrine) Metk o, Antigo and children: Michelle Tveten, Chad and Tracy Thompson; Willi am (Sandy) Metko, Antigo and children: Jeremy, Lynn, Lacie and Ashley; Erb in (Elly) Metko, Appleton; and child, Wendy; 33 great-grandchildren; two s isters: Bernice Stuyvenberg and Lois Eickhoff, both of Kimberly; a brothe r, Thomas (Marion) Johnson, Greenville; four sisters-in-law: Mary Herre s, Minnie Beck and Connie Metko, all of Appleton; and Virginia Johnson, We yauwega and a special friend and neighbor, Agnes Eibenholzl. In additi on to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark Metk o; a great-granddaughter, Jennifer Burg; a daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Metk o; two sisters: Ethel Reetz Verstagen and Ruth Swick and two brothers: Ral ph and Frank Jr. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, Mar ch 26, 2002 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Mattoon. The Rev. Charles Hoff man and Deacon Tom Hartman will officiate. Interment will be in the pari sh cemetery. Friends may call on Monday, March 25, from 4-8 p.m. at the Sc hmidt-Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood and again on Tuesday from 10 a.m. u ntil the time of services at the church. There will be a parish wake servi ce at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
