- Valita M. Kappell, Kaukauna, age 90, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2010, in Neenah. She was born May 14, 1919, to the late Frank and Katherine (Babino) Guyette. On May 24, 1941, she was united in marriage to Lawrence G. Kappell in Kaukauna. She was a graduate of New London High School. She was employed by New London Family Medical Center following her graduation as well as AMC. Val owned and operated her own ceramic shop. Val was a member of the Kaukauna Community Hospital Auxiliary doing volunteer work for many years. She enjoyed golf, crocheting, rosemaling and was an excellent seamstress and cook. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Kaukauna where she was an active member of the Ladies' Foresters. She and Lawrence were active members of the Gem and Mineral Club. They both enjoyed making jewelry for their children and grandchildren. Val had an unconditional love for her entire family.
She is survived by her four daughters: Rae (Jim) Charles, Panama City, FL; Jane Kramer, Kaukauna; Alyce (Tom) Buchinger, Hilbert; Anne VanEpern, Minneapolis, MN; two sons: James (Dawn) Kappell, Kaukauna; Paul (Kristi) Kappell, Sherwood; a daughter-in-law, Karen Maas; 19 grandchildren: Sahra (Jola) and their children, Zachery and Lance, Kathy (Dan) Wendland, Christopher Charles, Dean (Anne) Charles and their children, Gracen and Jenna, Jamie (DJ) Danko, Michael (Stacey) Charles, and their children, Cole and Ryan, John (Kara) Kramer and their children, Luke and Katie, Lori Vande Ley Graaf and her children, Erika, Makenze and Kyle, Stanley (Hunter) Kramer, Emily Buchinger, Angela Buchinger, Calaway VanEpern, Wesley VanEpern, Cody (Nichole) Kappell and their son, Daman, Jesse Kappell, Paul Kappell, Philip Kappell, Thomas (Kelly) Kappell and their daughters, Katlin and Breanna, and James Kappell Jr. She is further survived by a brother, John Guyette, a sister, Patricia Puffe, and a sister-in-law, Eunice Kappell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence; a daughter, Catherine Bauer; a son, Thomas Lee; a grandson, Russell VanEpern: a brother, Lawrence; and a sister, Gertrude.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH at St. Mary Site, 119 West Seventh St., Kaukauna, with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends will be received directly at church on Tuesday from 2 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established. Burial will take place in St. Mary Cemetery.
