Robert C. Giordana, Kaukauna, age 78, passed away Tuesday October 28, 2008, with his family at his side after a brief battle with cancer. He was born December 26, 1929, in Kaukauna, the son of the late Emil and Laura Giordana. Bob graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1949. He excelled in football and was proud to play along side of his brothers for the Kaukauna Ghosts. He was employed by Thilmany Pulp and Paper Company for many years and also worked for John Hancock, where he received the "Salesman of the Year" award. On September 3, 1949, Bob married Pauline "Pope" Hanegraaf and enjoyed more than 50 years of marriage before she preceded him in death.
Bob is survived by his children and grandchildren: Bobbi Jo (Butch) Haen and their children, Renee (Clayton) and Holly (Jeffrey); Tony (Pat) Giordana and their children, Gina (Kevin), Jeremy (Jenna), and Travis; Dino Giordana; Pete Giordana and his children, Josh (Candy) and Kali; Missi (Rob) Giordana and their children, Akeem, Ezell Jr., Kellen and Andree. He is also blessed with five great-grandchildren. Bob was further survived by four brothers and sisters: Mary Hubert, Frank "Red" (Florence) Giordana, Jim Giordana, Janice (Bob) Hammen, Dolores "Blondie" Giordana, Donna Giordana, Sally Giordana and Lorraine "Butter" Giordana. He will also be missed by his brother and sisters-in-law, Deane Schultz, Germaine Nachel, Francis "Bud" (Betty) Hanegraaf, Joan Frassetto, Rita (Ken) Foster, and Mary Beth Vanderloo.
Bob was preceded in death by his grandson, Ryan Giordana, two nephews, Paul and Chuck Giordana, his brothers and sisters, Emil, Carl, Joe, Rich, Lucille, Sister Jilene, Philomene, and brother and sisters-in-law, Rudy Skalmusky, Henry Hubert and Sally Giordana. He was further preceded in death by his father- and mother-in-law, Martin and Catherine Hanegraaf, and his five brothers-in-law, Bob Schultz, Bob Nachel, "Fras" Frassetto, Ken Sorenson and Jim Vander Loo.
The last 10 years Bob enjoyed delivering The Post-Crescent every day, through rain, sleet or snow. Although the highlight of his life was spending time with his grandchildren.
Bob's memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2008, at Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna, with Fr. Charles Brooks officiating. Friends may call from 12 Noon until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
