- Catherine T. (Vogel) Kabat, 88, Green Bay, found eternal peace on Monday, June 15, 2015, at Brillion West Haven. Catherine "Kitty" was born on October 14, 1926, in the town of Franklin in Manitowoc County.
She was the youngest daughter of the late John and Sarah (McGinty) Vogel. Kitty attended St.
Patrick School in Maple Grove and graduated from Reedsville High School. She graduated from Manitowoc County Normal School and taught grade school for two years in the town of Franklin and two years at the Reedsville Public School.
On July 19, 1949, Kitty married William Kabat, who preceded her in death on November 3,
1979. The couple lived in Reedsville until 1972 when they moved to Green Bay. While in
Green Bay, Kitty worked at Don Farah's Super Valu, H.C. Prange Co. and Sears & Roebuck.
She also volunteered at St. Mary's Medical Center, The Woman's Place, Brown County Aging and Disability Center, Grancare Nursing Home and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Northeastern Wisconsin.
She was the dear mother of James (Shelby) Kabat, Eagle River; Diane (Greg) Taddy, Maple Grove; Judith (David) Affeldt, Hales Corners; and Lynne (Gary) Johnson, Suamico. She is also survived by eight grandsons, one granddaughter, 14 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mickey Breit; and many nieces and nephews.
Kitty was preceded in death by her loving sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and John Hale; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Mary Vogel, William and Lucille Vogel, and Joseph and Rita Vogel; and several other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Family will receive friends at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2771 Oakwood Dr., from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with Rev. Paul Demuth officiating. Burial will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park.
