- Schumacher, Joseph J. Mackville Age 77, passed away at his home with his family by his side on Tuesday, January 8, 2002 following a courageous battle with cancer. Joe was born February 9, 1924 in the Town of Vandenbroek, son of the late John P. and Hattie (Williamsen) Schumacher and has resided in the Fox Valley all of his life. Joe was a graduate of St. John High School in Little Chute. He was united in marriage to Mary Diedrich on June 9, 1948 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna sharing 53 years together. Joe farmed in Mackville for over 50 years. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed gardening and his vacations in Florida. Joe was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church of Mackville and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 12596 of Mackville. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Mary; daughter, Carol (Richard) Shikoski, Janesville; son, Tom (Donna) Schumacher, Mackville; daughter-in-law, Donna Schumacher, Mackville; nine grandchildren: Brian (Sara) Shikoski, Brent, Mark and Brenda Shikoski, Rick (Sherry) Stein, Adam and Jaime Schumacher, Luke (Jenny) Schumacher and Michael Schumacher; six brothers: Maurice (Florus) Schumacher, Appleton; Harold (Germaine) Schumacher, Little Chute; Eugene (Eleanor) Schumacher, Little Chute; Marvin (Leona) Schumacher, Rhinelander; John (Katie) Schumacher, Appleton; and James (Donna) Schumacher, Kimberly; two sisters: Mildred (Robert) Huss, Combined Locks; Rita (Kenneth) Hoffman, Appleton; two sisters-in-law: Marion Schumacher, Neenah; Therese Schumacher, Little Chute; two aunts: Viola and Betty Williamsen, Appleton; brother-in-law, Norbert Blair, Kaukauna; sister-in-law, Anna Jane Diedrich, Kaukauna; five great-grandchildren, also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a son Stephen on January 20, 2001; three brothers: Clarence, Peter and Raymond Schumacher; sister-in-law, Betty Schumacher; nephew, John Schumacher; brother-in-law, Leo Diedrich and sister-in-law, Phylli! s Blair.
The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 7 p.m. January 11 at St. Edward Catholic Church, Mackville with Fr. Charles Brooks and Fr. Justin Werner officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kaukauna. Friends may call directly at the church from 2 p.m. Friday until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established for Theda Care at Home Hospice.
