  Van Thiel, Joanne H. Joanne H. Van Thiel, Little Chute, age 85, died Sunday, June 3, 2007, at Appleton Medical Center. Joanne was born in Little Chute on January 21, 1922, to the late John and Dora (Vanden Burgt) Van Bakel. She married Edward W. Van Thiel on December 1, 1945, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church where she was a lifelong member. He preceded her in death July 1, 1993. Joanne was a member of the St. John Mission Club for 27 years as well as a member of the Golden Agers, Ladies Auxiliary and the Seniors Group. She was an avid reader and Packer fan. Joanne also enjoyed sewing and spending time at the family cottage in Crandon. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren. Joanne will be remembered as a very giving person, spending many hours volunteering in our community to serve others. Joanne is survived by her children: Karen (Carl) Verhagen, Combined Locks; Ron (Mary) Van Thiel, Pewaukee; Dave (Cathy) Van Thiel, Shoreview, MN; Dan (Cindy) Van Thiel, Darboy; and Jean Van Thiel, Freedom; 14 grandchildren: Sarah (Nick) Droessler, Stephen (Rebecca) Verhagen, Geoffrey, David and Jenna Van Thiel, Tara and Jason Van Thiel, Ryan (Becky), Alyssa and Brett Van Thiel, Michael, Robby, Matthew and Tim Van Sambeek; sisters and brothers: Ardina Pritzl, Adrian (Terry) Van Bakel, Joe (Angie) Van Bakel and Dolores "Lorrie" Van Bakel; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Harold Welhouse, Beryl Van Bakel, Francis Van Thiel, Ann Stoffel, Claire (Elmer) Wolfinger, Therese Kelly and Clarence Bongers. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her sister and brother: Roseanne Welhouse and Leonard Van Bakel; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Marie Bongers, Delia (Merle) Proknow, Ray Pritzl, John Van Thiel, Joe Stoffel, Dale Kelly and Alice (Lawrence) Gonnering. The Funeral Mass will be at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at St. John Catholic Church (323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute). The Rev. David J. Funk, OFM Cap. will officiate. Visitation will start Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. until the time of Mass directly at church. Committal St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established. O'CONNELL FUNERAL SERVICES
