- Agnes Frances Brownson, Shiocton, age 97, died peacefully on Friday, August 31, 2007, surrounded by her loving family. Agnes was born on September 30, 1909, in Shiocton, daughter of the late Leonard and Wilhelmina (Geurts) Van Straten. She married Clarence J. Brownson on August 24, 1937. Agnes was a charter member of St. Anne's Altar Society, St. Denis Catholic Church, Shiocton Community Club and the Women's Sheephead Club. She will be remembered for her great courage, religious fervor, gardening and culinary skills. Her children and grand-children have wonderful memories of holiday dinners and celebrations.
Agnes is survived by her five children: Sally Cullen, Janesville; Sandra Frechette, Kimberly; Robert (Nancy) Brownson, Shiocton; Mark Brownson, MN and Bernadette Borcher, Racine; twenty-one grand-children: Michele, Mark, Robert J., Lisa, Monica, Nicholas, Francine, Heidi, Daniele, Brian, Greg, Amy, Robert L., Delia, Andrea, Markita, Danielle, Kayla, Leha, Malayna, and Brittany; twenty-four great-grandchildren, four sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, special nephew Ronald Poole, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, former Outagamie County Highway Commissioner and a son Joseph. Agnes was the last surviving member of her family; eight sisters and five brothers preceded her in death.
The Funeral Mass for Agnes will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2007, at 11 a.m. at St. Denis Catholic Church in Shiocton with Rev. John Kastenholz and Sr. Pauline Feiner officiating. Burial will be in the St. Denis-Bovina Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
