- Alice M. Fermanich, age 90, Appleton, formerly of New London, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2010, at her residence. Alice was born on February 15, 1919, in Issaar, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Eisch) Landwehr. On July 10, 1980, she was united in marriage to Donald Fermanich. He preceded her in death in 2004. She formerly worked at Tuttle Press in Appleton. Her enjoyment in life was her family and crocheting. In her retirement years, Alice enjoyed crocheting hats and making rosaries for the missions.
Alice is survived by three daughters: Joan (Dennis) Booms, Wausaukee; Judy (Ronald) Peters, Nichols; Diane (Tom) Mehlberg, Gresham; two sons: Ken (Doris) Wolff, Appleton; Bob Wolff, Little Chute; a brother, John (Marilyn) Landwehr, Appleton; a sister, Myrtle (Gene) Prisco, New York; sisters-in-law: Hildegarde and Betty Fermanich, New London, and Marge Weidner, Green Bay. She is further survived by fourteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Wolff, two brothers: Joseph and Thomas Landwehr, six sisters: Josephine Palmer, Lucille Lotter, Lorraine Rhode, Margaret Hackl, Susie Williams and Bea Stark.
Funeral Mass for Alice will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 6, 2009, at 11:30 a.m. with Fr. Tom Farrell officiating. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Most Precious Blood Catholic Cemetery, New London. A memorial fund has been established for the Catholic Youth Expedition.
