- Beatrice C. Stark, nee Landwehr, of Kaukauna, formerly of West Bend, passed away on January 20, 2009, at the age of 88 at her residence. She was born on November 8, 1920, in Isaar to the late Joseph and Catherine (nee Eisch) Landwehr, the ninth of eleven children.
Bea was joined in marriage to Eugene J. Stark on September 27, 1941, in Isaar. Eugene predeceased November 15, 2006.
Before settling in West Bend in 1951, she lived in Appleton, Berlin and Milwaukee. Bea and Gene relocated to the St. Paul assisted living facility in Kaukauna in August 2005. Bea was a dedicated, spirit-filled mother who made home a comfortable place to be. When her children were grown, she worked for the West Bend Joint School District #1 with the food service department for 16 years prior to her retirement.
She found her relaxation in gardening (mini farming) and card playing, excelling in both. Also, she loved to sew, knit and crochet and made crafts for many occasions and holidays. She traveled some with her husband to visit children in Mexico, Costa Rica and Hawaii following retirement, but found her greatest enjoyment living simply in West Bend.
Survivors include five sons: Ronald (Joanne) of Seneca, SC, James (Cindy) of Superior, Richard (Marcy) of Lake Ridge, VA, Robert of Slinger and Terry of Madison; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Alice Fermanich of Appleton and Myrtle (Eugene) Prisco of Pelham Manor, NY; a brother John (Marilyn) Landwehr of Appleton; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, five sisters Josephine (Alfred) Palmer, Lorraine (John) Rhode, Lucille (Victor) Lotter, Margaret (August) Hack and Susie (Louis) Williams, a brother-in-law Don Fermanich and a sister-in-law Germaine Landwehr.
