- Mildred A. Vandenberg, age 98, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at St. Paul Home. She was born on February 24, 1912, in the Town of Osborn to the late Richard and Mary (Green) Moehring. On September 25, 1935, Mildred married Milton Sachs. Mildred married Isadore Vandenberg on October 12, 1979. She was a longstanding member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Kaukauna. Mildred and her husband Milton owned and operated a cheese factory in the Town of Osborn in their early years of marriage. Mildred's talents in cooking led to a position at Kaukauna Community Hospital as the head cook and dietician.
She is survived by seven children: Dan (Vivian) Sachs, New London, Jeanne (Dan) Maes, Reeds Spring, MO, Doug (Ellyn) Sachs, Neenah, Joyce (Stan) Darling, Winneconne, Dale Sachs, Little Chute, Joanne (Doug) Young, South Charleston, WV, and Chuck (Kay) Sachs, Shorewood; a sister, Alice Nickel, a sister-in-law, Ethel Moehring; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by stepchildren: Eugene Vandenberg, Appleton, Rick (Sandy) Vandenberg, Little Chute, Mike (Vicki) Vandenberg, Kaukauna, Joan (Kevin) Deno, Sherwood, Janet (Bill) Meyers, Appleton; nine stepgrandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands: Milton Sachs and Isadore Vandenberg; her brothers: Ralph Moehring and Florian Moehring; sister-in-law, Estelle Moehring; brother-in-law, Alex Nickel; daughter-in-law, Susan Sachs, and a granddaughter, Kathy (Maes) Lee.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2010, at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH at ST. MARY CHURCH, 119 West Seventh St., Kaukauna, with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends will be received directly at church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Mildred's name is being established. Following mass, burial will take place in the St. Mary Cemetery. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna is assisting the family. 920-766-2099.
