- Agnes Catherine Weyers (Green), 90, Freedom, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 29, 2009, at her home surrounded by her family, due to a stroke which she suffered on Monday, March 23, 2009. She was born Aug. 8, 1918, in Freedom, daughter of the late Joseph and Mae (Appleton) Green. She married Andrew J. Weyers on June 6, 1939. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1987. She was a graduate of St. Nicholas Catholic School, Freedom High School and Outagamie County Teachers College.
She taught school in the area for more than 20 years and after retirement, she volunteered her time in the St. Nicholas School library. She found great pleasure in spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, embroidering, making scrapbooks, playing cards and collecting spoons. She was a lifetime member of St. Nicholas Parish, Freedom, where she served as one of the originators of the parish council. She was also a member of the Christian Mothers Society and Freedom Golden Agers.
Survivors include her children, Vern (Maureen) Weyers, Jean (Gary) Allgeyer, Janice (Mike) Stephani, Bill (Eileen) Weyers, Betty (Curt) Konkle and Carol (Lee) Kortz; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Weyers; 15 grandchildren, Craig, Amy, Megan, Chris, Jenny, David, Kim, Dean, Pat, Krissy, Tifany, Heidi, Adam, Andy and Angela; 25 great-grandchildren; sister, Alice Peterson; sister-in-law, Rose Mary Green; special friend and caregiver, Sue Morrison; and numerous godchildren, nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Jim Weyers; grandson, Kurt Allgeyer; granddaughter-in-law, Jamie Weyers; three sisters, Edna (Joe) Rickert, Margaret (Tony) Vanden Hoogan and Isabel Green; brother, Joseph Green, Jr.; and brother-in-law, Ed Peterson. On the Weyers side, she was predeceased by eight brothers-in-law and eight sisters-in-law.
The funeral liturgy for Agnes will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at ST. NICHOLAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Freedom, with Father David Hoffman and Deacon Don Newhouse officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. The visitation will be held at the Fargo Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and again at the church on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of mass. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
The family wishes to extend special appreciation to Freedom First Responders, the staff at St. Vincent's Hospital and many good friends, neighbors and relatives.
Think of her as living in the hearts of those she touched for nothing loved is ever lost - and she was loved so much.
