- Van Gompel, Wayne D. "Stitc h" Athens, TennesseeFormerly of Little Chute, age 50, died unexpectedly Monday, October 28, 20 02 in Athens. He was born June 14, 1952 in Appleton, son of Elmer E. and J oyce T. (Jansen) Van Gompel. Mr. Van Gompel worked at Johnson Cleaners. Wa yne then founded Stitch's Alterations and Repairs, Little Chute until 19 99 when he moved to Tennessee. A note of special thanks to Jane Vanden Heu vel for her assistance at Stitch's. He currently was employed at Waupaca F oundry, Athens, Tennessee. Wayne loved his dog, Dee Dee and his cotta ge at Waupaca Chain of Lakes. He enjoyed antiques and had a talent for pur chasing older homes and fixing them up to new beauty.Wayne is survived by his parents: Elmer E. (Joyce T.) Van Gompel, Appleto n; his close friend, Mike Ross, Athens, Tennessee; a brother, Kenneth M. ( Kathy) Van Gompel, Little Chute; three sisters: Doris (Robert) Vanden Boog ard, Little Chute; Lois (Mark) Kiel, Kaukauna; Ann (Bill) Kerkhof, Kimberl y; nieces and nephews: Nick, Jenny and Kelly Van Gompel, Linda (Merlin) Va nden Bloomer and children: Skyler and Trevor, Sharon Vanden Boogard and fi ance, Brodi and Conner; Kristy Vanden Boogard; Stephanie Kiel and fianc e, Mike; Nicole and Matthew Kiel, Bill Kerkhof Jr. and fiancee Rachel; Jam ie Kerkhof; aunt and uncles: Verona Gloudemans, Angela Schroeder, John (El aine) Jansen, Roger (Darlene) Jansen, Betty (Ken) Geiger, Bill (Doris) Jan sen, Maggie Guernsey and Toots Jansen; and other relatives and friend s. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, aunts and uncles.A prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, October 31, 2002 at t he Verkuilen Funeral Home, Little Chute with Rev. Msgr. Janes Vanden Hog en officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Frie nds may call from 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home until the time of t he service.
