- Kobussen, Wilbert B."Koby"Ka ukaunaAge 88, died peacefully at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna on Wednesday, Novemb er 12, 2003, with his family at his side. He was born August 30, 1915 in K aukauna, son of the late Edward and Gertrude (Helein) Ward. Koby married t he former Marie (nee Byrd) Akeman on January 23, 1964 at Holy Cross Chur ch in Kaukauna; she preceded him in death in 1996. He retired as Assista nt Chief of the City of Kaukauna Fire Department in December, 1974. Both p rior to and after his retirement, Koby and Marie enjoyed many happy yea rs at their cottage at White Potato Lake. They also spent six wonderful ye ars in Sunsites, Arizona, where they made many new friends, but return ed to Wisconsin to rekindle old friendships when Marie became ill. Koby al so enjoyed being a part-time bartender at The Hyland House and Willie's Ce dar Cellar. He was a life long member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and al so a member of the Jacob Coppus Post #258 of the American Legion.He is survived by a son: Jerry (Nancy) Kobussen of Kaukauna; a son-in-la w, Ron (Barbara) Reichel of Las Vegas, Nevada; five grandchildren: Lori (P atrick) Petty, Cari (Mike) Scott, Mary (Jim) Roessler, all of Californi a; Kay (Scott) Gahr of Appleton, Kurt Kobussen of Slinger; seven great-gra ndchildren: Justin and Kaitlin Petty, Samantha and Tabitha Scott, Nathan a nd Trevor Roessler, and Kamden Gahr; one sister: Alice Heimerman of Munisi ng, Michigan; three brothers-in-law: Bill (Ethel) Hill of Fairfield, Ohi o, Howard (Elaine) Wilson of Hamilton, Ohio, and Bob (Thelma) Bowman of Ke ttering, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Jimmie Ranquette of Little Chute and El sie Combs of Laurel, Indiana. Koby is further survived be numerous speci al nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and many friends. He w as preceded in death by his daughter Janice Reichel in 1986, three brother s-in-law, Gene Heimerman, Willie Ranquette and Milo Combs.The funeral liturgy for Koby will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Novemb er 15, 2003 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukaun a, with Fr. Jack Mullarkey officiating. Inurnment will be in Holy Cross Ce metery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. unt il 1:45 p.m. at which time the procession will leave for the church. In li eu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the American Canc er Society.The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at bo th St. Paul Manor and St. Paul Elder Services for their extra kindne ss to Koby, as well as to Koby's longtime and dear friend, David Six.
