- Mangold, DonaldAge 75, died peacefully at his home on November 3, 2003. He was born May 1 7, 1928 in Kaukauna son of Steven and Lorraine (Vanden Heuvel) Mangol d. He attended Holy Cross Grade School and Kaukauna High School and attend ed UW Stevens Point. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U .S. Navy. In February 1953 he married Peg Gorchals. She preceded him in de ath in 1986. They had two children: Mark and Patti. For years he serv ed as product manager of the Thilmany Pulp and Paper Corporation (now Inte rnational Paper Co., Kaukauna facility). He was a member of its Quarter Ce ntury and Management Club. While in Kaukauna he served on the St. Aloysi us School Board and on the City Planning Commission.When Thilmany's bag department was terminated, it was purchased by a Gre en Bay businessman, moved to Green Bay and renamed Wisconsin Converting. S o, a new retiree, Don was hired as a full time consultant to help during t he transition of ownership in maintaining past accounts.He was active in multiple activities, both indoors and outdoors, from plan ting flowers to woodworking projects for the grandson, an avid reade r, an avid golfer and proud of his bowling "300" in 2001 and "701" in 2002 .He moved to Green Bay in 1988 and married Carolyn Krueger. They made the ir home in Green Bay for 15 years.Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; son, Mark and his sons: Hunter and Lu ke; daughter, Patti (Glenn) McNamara and their son, Keegan; a sister, Marg aret Ann (Sylvester) Vanevenhoven; step brother, Don (Mary Jayne) Brown; i n-laws: Jim Driessen, Les and Millie Regel, Rita Gorchals, Ed and Nancy Go rchals, Virginia Krueger, many nieces, nephews and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Mona (Jim) Driesse n, Little Chute; step father, William Brown, step brothers: Richard and Da ve Brown.Friends may call at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Lane on Thu rsday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. with Rev. Da ve Pleier officiating. Entombment in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
