- James Driessen, 85, Little Chute, died unexpectedly Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton. He was born June 11, 1923, in Little Chute, son of George and Rose (Hietpas) Driessen. Jim married Ramona "Mona" Mangold April 8, 1947, and she preceded him in death October 29, 1999. Mr. Driessen was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. He was employed at the Combined Locks Paper Mill until his retirement. Jim enjoyed carpentry, especially cabinet making along with gardening. He was a member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258, Little Chute. Mr. Driessen was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran.
Jim is survived by his children: Barbara Driessen, Neenah; Steve (Barbara) Driessen, Cape Coral, Florida; Diane (Ronald) Demerath, Kaukauna; David Driessen, Little Chute; Donna Moede, Combined Locks and special friend, Richard Gleason; nine grandchildren: Jacki Kelly; Chris (Tanya) Kelly; Rose (Steve) Shedlock; Jill Driessen; Jason (Aimee) Demerath; Adam Demerath and special friend, Amber; Stacy Demerath; Eric Moede; Michael Moede; eight great-grandchildren; sisters: Ruth Locy, Little Chute; Carol Skinkis, Milwaukee; three sisters-in-law: Theresa Driessen, Kimberly; Margaret Ann (Sylvester) Vanevenhoven, Kaukauna; Carolyn Mangold, Green Bay; a brother-in-law, Julius Pritzl, Appleton; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Isabel Pritzl; Joyce Driessen; Joan Driessen; three brothers: Eugene (Dolores) Driessen; Leo (Marlene) Driessen; Richard Driessen; three brothers-in-law, David Locy, Chet Skinkis, Donald (Margaret) Mangold.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2008, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church with Fr. David Funk O.F.M. Cap. officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Friends may call at the church from 2 p.m. Monday until 5 p.m. until the time of the mass. Full military honors will be performed following the mass by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258, Little Chute. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
