I ho pe to be able to give you more Hermans information in the not too dista nt future.Sincerely,Becca HamblinHere is a copy of the message that I sent off to RBernards.Hi, I apologi ze for taking so long to respond to your email. I only just began resear ching my DeGroot family, beyond my own family records, in Sept of this yea r. I stumbled into some information that continues to grow exponentiall y. I really was not prepared to find so much so fast. As there are a f ew discrepancies between my sources, I was hoping to compile it together b efore sending it off. This is just taking me too long and I know that y ou are as anxious as I was, to obtain missing pieces of information. Th is is information is ready to send. It was written by Dorotique Bernar ds and Jo DeGroot. I have no source of contact for them. I also have inf ormation from a Dick DeGroot, who may have more of what you are looking fo r. I will have to send it seperately in a day or two. Also I have obtain ed some good information from a Rita Devroy that you may be interested i n. I have just started transcribing it. I would be interested in any inf ormation that you have on DeGroot, Verstraten/VanStraten, VanVonderern, Va nderHorst. Really on any of our common surnames. I would also like to find out how we connect in our DeGroot Tree. It tur ns out the Rita & I are distantly connectly through many of our surname s. She and I just happened to be doing research at the same time, in t he Brown County WI register of deeds office. This had to be providen ce as I just happened to be visiting family in the area & decided to use t he opportunity to do research. My first research outside family recor ds & the internet. As you read, you will come to Theodore Carl DeGroot, the son of Bernard us DeGroot (generation #9) & Christina Hermens (we spell it Hermans), Bern ardus is the son of Henricus DeGroot & Petronella Verstraten, Henric us is the son of Bernardis Linders DeGroot, who died of Cholera, on the vo yage to America, in 1866. Bernardus Linders had 3 of his children, Henric us, Anna Maria & Christina, with him on this journey. They arrived safe ly in the DePere area of Wisconsin in 1866. Bernardus Linders daughter Joh anna, apparently made the journey in 1867, with her husband Johannes VanVo nderen & 3 small children. Most of this information is obtained from my o ther sources & I have had no time for verications. Theodore Carl, listed a bove, is my grandfather.Sincerely,Becca Hamblin
