- Verone "Ronne" Berg, age 92, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Care Partners Assisted Living, Appleton. She was born in Appleton, February 20, 1925, the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Wyngaard) Welhouse. Ronne married John M. Berg in 1946. John preceded her in death in 1970. Ronne lived most of her later life in Vilas County on Rainbow Lake, Winchester, Wisconsin.
Ronne was an avid reader, captivated by knowledge her entire life. She was sharp-witted and articulate embellishing stories with family history, current political issues, and a unique sense of humor. She also loved woodworking, building her first home with her late husband John in Appleton, and remodeling her second home on Rainbow Lake with her companion of 34 years, Sue Elizabeth Krieck.
Survivors include Sue; her three sons: Stephen (Sue) Berg, Appleton, Jeffrey (Judi) Berg, Appleton, and Matthew (Debra) Berg, Menasha; one brother, Tom (Carol) Welhouse; six grandchildren: Kelly (Jason) Berg, Bill Kloiber, Scott (Julie) Kloiber, Eric (Michelle) Berg, Michael (Tegan) Berg, and Christine (Kris) Berg; and seven great grandchildren: Will Kloiber, Alex Nellis, Jacob Berg, Mason Berg, Abby Kloiber, Nicholas Berg and London Berg. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives who will deeply miss her.
A memorial service for Ronne will be 11:00 AM, on Wednesday June 21 at Valley Funeral Home, with Deacon Don Schultz officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday morning beginning at 10:00 until the 11:00 AM service.
Ronne's family and Sue Krieck wish to thank Care Partners Assisted Living in Appleton for providing such compassionate care during her residence with them since December, 2016. Also her Compassus Hospice RN Heidi Brown and care representative Craig Saletine will remain in our heartfelt gratitude forever.
We also wish to thank the friends and neighbors in the Rainbow Lake area who cared for her many needs over the years.
