  Sister St. Barbara Haen, age 91, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, died Wednesday morning, April 4, 2007, at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. The former Marie Haen was born Jan. 4, 1916 in Hollandtown, daughter of the late Henry and Gertrude (Bruecker) Haen. She entered the convent in 1937 and professed her vows in 1940. Sister St. Barbara earned a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Louis University, St. Louis, Mo., and a Master of Science degree in nursing from the Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. Sister St. Barbara served as a nurse and director of education at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc; nurse at Good Samaritan Medical Center, Zanesville, Ohio; instructor and director of the School of Nursing at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, and Good Samaritan School of Nursing, Zanesville, Ohio; administrator at St. Francis Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph Home, West Point, Neb.; and director of the Clinica Anglo Americana School of Nursing, Lima, Peru. She also served as director of the health care region for the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity from 1973-1979. After retiring from active ministry, she volunteered her services at Good Samaritan Medical Center, Zanesville, Ohio, and St. Paul Manor, Kaukauna. She retired to St. Francis Convent, Manitowoc in 1995, and had been a resident of St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse since 2001. She is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O.Praem, with burial at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc. The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc, from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2007. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
