- Eugene P. Haen "Gene", Hollandtown, Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather, age 84, died Tuesday June 12, 2007, at home. Gene was born November 18, 1922, to the late Henry and Gertrude (Bruecker) Haen in Hollandtown. He married the former Bernice Micke on August 9, 1945, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Hollandtown.
Gene was an active member of St. Francis Parish, Hollandtown, Knights of Columbus, Council 1033, and Catholic Knights of Wisconsin. He was on the Board of Directors at F & M Bank for 30 years, Bancorporation for 12 years and at St. Paul Home, Kaukauna. Gene served on the State ASCS Committee, and chaired it for 1 year, and on the Wisconsin Cattlemen's Board, and was president for 1 year. He was co-founder of Badger Northland Co. with his uncle, George Bruecker and was Vice-President for 22 years, co-founder of Keller Structures with Walter Keller, and co-founder of Calumet Corp. with Vince Rohlf. Gene also was President and manager of Hillcrest Farms for 18 years, site of the 1969 Farm Progress Days. Most recently, Gene volunteered at St. Paul home and currently worked at the parish cemetery with his son, Don. Gene enjoyed travel, cards and woodworking, and was a longtime and devoted Packer fan. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bernice Haen; two sons: Gary (Doris) Haen of Mesa, AZ; Don Haen of Hollandtown; two daughters: Carolyn (Bernard) Zey of Green Bay; Betsy (Greg) Meller of Green Bay; six grandchildren: Patricia (Paul) Traegde of Mesa, AZ, Mark (Debbie) Haen of Mesa, AZ, Jeff (Melissa) Zey of Minneapolis, MN, Tina Zey of Green Bay, Paul (Hannah) Zey of Roswell, GA and Cecely Meller of Minneapolis, MN; three great grandchildren, Mya Rae Haen, Joshua Haen and Ryan Traegde; two brothers, Ken (Joan) Haen of Kaukauna and Ivo (Carol) Haen of Kaukauna and a sister, Sr. Ann Joachim of Manitowoc. He is further survived by Bernice's family, Norbert Micke, Marie (Homer) Meehl and Les Auden as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Raymond Haen, Jerome (Mertie) Haen, two sisters: Sr. St. Barbara and Marcella (Earl) Fink.
Gene's Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Saturday June 16, 2007, at ST. FRANCIS CATHOLIC CHURCH in Hollandtown with Fr. Jerry Pastors and Fr. William Rickert co-officiating. Friends will be received on Friday at the Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna, from 4 p.m. until the 7:30 p.m. parish prayer service and again on Saturday at Church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in the Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials to St. Paul's Home or Kaukauna Catholic School System would be appreciated.
