- Rita M. Radloff 83, Carmel, died October 12, 2006 after a short illness. She was born in Kaukauna, WI on May 11, 1923. She and her twin sister, Joan, were the 4th and 5th children of Mary Stumph Hartzheim and Philip Hartzheim. She graduated from Kaukauna High School where she was, among other things, center on the the women's basketball team. She married Victor W. Radloff on November 11, 1944 while he was serving in the Army Air Corps. Together, they raised six children, moving from Brillion, WI to Glenview, IL and then, in 1957, to Carmel, IN. She was a member of OLMC parish, and was a choir member there for many years. She was known as a beauty, but her family and friends regarded her inner beauty as truly exceptional. She was wise, loving and loyal, and very devoted to her Catholic faith. She cared for her husband for 10 years after he suffered a paralyzing stroke. Victor preceded her in death on December 13, 2005. Also preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Clarence and Floyd Hartzheim; and her beloved son, Daniel Radloff. She is survived by sisters, Joan Hunter and Mary Burke; daughters, Susan Stephens MD, Janet Guildenbecher, and Mary Klabacha; sons, Paul Radloff and James Radloff; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. There will be a calling at Leppert Mortuary, Smith Carmel Chapel from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, October 16. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel church, followed by interment at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
