- Norbert J. Leitermann, 94, Little Chute, passed away peacefully with his family by his side Saturday, October 13, 2012. Norbert was born July 15, 1918 in Antigo, son of the late John and Rose (Hermann) Leitermann. On December 27, 1945, Norbert married Jean Vandenberg at St. John's Catholic Church in Little Chute. She preceded him in death on December 6, 2009. Together they enjoyed square dancing and playing cards. Norbert also enjoyed ice fishing and repairing small engines. Norbert was a long time member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, the Catholic Order of Foresters, and the St. John Cemetery Committee. He proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII in the South Pacific.
Norbert is survived by his sons: David (Mary) Leitermann, Appleton; Marc Leitermann, Little Chute; John (Linda) Leitermann, Springfield, IL; a daughter Jo (Gregg) Friedmann, Boulder, CO; grandchildren: Michael (Jayme) Leitermann and their daughter Brianna; Peter (Tara) Leitermann and their children Rose, Lydia and Patrick; Katie (Josh) Verstegen and their children Joshua, Hannah and Olivia; Sarah (Greg) Ulman; and Joseph Leitermann; a sister, Rita; sisters-in-law: Martha, Helen, Mary and Yvonne; a brother-in-law, Roy (Sharee) Vandenberg; and many other family members and friends.
Norbert was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; a daughter-in-law, Patty; a granddaughter, Anna; and 8 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine St., Little Chute, with Msgr. James VandenHogen officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will take place at the church from 2:00 p.m. Tuesday until the time of the mass. Full military honors will be conducted by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258 Little Chute, immediately following the mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts will be distributed to charities.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and volunteers of St. Paul Villa, Home and Hospice.
