- Ehlke, Robert (Bob);Robert (Bob) Ehlke, (Ehlke Welding), age 75 of Oshkosh, passed away at h is home on Sunday afternoon July 11, 2004 with his family by his side. Bob 's brave battle with a blood disorder and cancer is over and he is at pea ce and eternal rest. Bob was born on May 3, 1929 the son of Arthur and Hen rietta Ehlke. He was raised on a farm in Appleton. Bob worked on the far m, and as a young man was also employed at The Fuhrman Canning Facto ry in Appleton. Later he worked as a sheet metal worker at Miller Electr ic of Appleton. On October 3, 1953 Bob married Patricia Soappman at Sacr ed Heart Catholic Church in Oshkosh. After they were married, they mov ed to California for a short time and Bob worked at Hoffman Constructio n. When they moved back to Wisconsin, Bob worked in the papermill at Kimbe rly-Clark, The Marathon Company, Frank Leach Hardware, part-time at Consol idated Gas and Putzer Metal Fabricating. He also was a foreman and weld er at Marvel Scaffolding. In 1972 Bob started his own business, Ehlke Weld ing. Bob and Pat raised four children: Diana, Debbie, Donna and David. B ob sponsored a fast-pitch softball team, Ehlke Welding and also a bowli ng team. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, dartball, spending ti me at his cabin and watching football.He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and The Oshkosh Builders Associatio n.Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ehlke, his parents, a sist er, Dorothy Striegel, two brothers: Wilbur and Wally Ehlke, sister-in-la w, Mildred Ehlke, his father and mother-in-law, Clare and Lorraine Soappma n.He is survived by his four children: Diana (Ron) Schettl, Debra (Steven) S chroeder, Donna (Michael) Bartow, Dave (Kristin) Ehlke, a sister, Millie ( Charles) Nackers, brother-in-law, Robert Striegel, sisters and brothers-in -law: Lauralee and Joe Kosmer, Margie and Jim Hunt; six grandchildren: Ad am and Eric Schettl, Oshkosh; Brian Schroeder, Glen Ellyn, IL; Stephanie S chroeder, Normal, IL; Jennifer and Matthew Bartow, Columbus, GA; and gra nd dog, Reggie Ehlke. Bob is further survived by many nieces, nephews, gre at-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends. He is also surviv ed by a special friend, Eileen, life-long friend, Richard Van Handel, of A ppleton. Bob's family would also like to acknowledge his close friends: Da ve Kiesow, Art Howard and Dave Krause, for their care and assistance.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 15 at 11 a .m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Tom Reyenbeau officiating. En tombment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. Visitation for Bob will be he ld in The Poklasny Funeral Home, 870 W. South Park Avenue, Oshkosh from 4 -8 p.m. Wednesday July 14. A prayer service celebrating Bob's life wi ll be held in The Poklasny Funeral Home on Wednesday evening at 7:30 p. m. Family and friends may also call at the church on Thursday morning fr om 10 a.m. until the hour of Mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial has be en established to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Robert's name.Bob's family wishes to extend a sincere Thank You and appreciation to D r. Karen Gremminger, her staff, the nurses at Mercy Scheduled Procedure Ar ea (SPA), with a special Thank You to Sharen McMullin. Also Janice Willia ms of Theda Care at Home and Dr. Hocking of the Marshfield Clinic for the ir care and attention.
